BRIEF HISTORY OF CEFV LIBRARY

The Children’s Educational Foundation Village (CEFV) a school founded by Bai Hadji Fatima Matabay Namli Plang established by the virtue R.A. 801 and with its 1st year of operation in 1967, a complete elementary level was opened simultaneously with 1st and 2nd year high school. With the Board resolution no. 163 in school year 1970 – 1971, the 3rd and 4th year High School curriculum was opened.

The founder started soliciting reading materials for the library and continued to do so until the Junior College was opened in the School Year 1973 – 1974 as per Board Resolution no. 263 series of 1972 providing vocational and technical training to students admitted in the custodial care program. Three lady employees succeedingly were assigned in the Library which was house in a room at the ground floor of the Pioneer Building.

In 1974, Miss Erlinda C. Concepcion a BSE in Library Science graduate was hired as a Junior College Librarian. Books and other library materials were purchased; donations were sought from the Asia Foundation, USIS and other Government Institutions and Organizations.

Unluckily, on June 5, 1975, the pioneer building was burned and the library was included. Since CEFV was offering two year courses such as Associate in Agriculture, Associate in Home Economics and Rubber Technology, there was a need for its conversion to a full-pledge College to be known as the Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology under the Batas Pambansa 408. Additional degree courses aside from the existing are offered such as BS in Agriculture, BS in Agribusiness, BS in Forestry, BS in Information Technology, BS in Home Economics, BSE and BEE as well as Graduate and Post Graduate Program.
